Developing Leaders: executive coaching |
It is widely acknowledged now that the development of leadership potential occurs most effectively by:
- Developing a real knowledge of Self (strengths and areas for improvement)
- Working through real-world situations
- Reflecting on experiences to decide upon different actions and new behaviours
- Continually practising newly acquired patterns of behaviour
- Drawing on tried and tested models of the micro-concepts of leadership (such as those relating to coaching, motivating and developing others, conflict resolution, team development, leading change and so on)
Executive Coaching is recognised as a very effective way of delivering these five critical developmental opportunities, and has been shown in large scale studies to be more effective than traditional training courses, executive retreats and computer-based programmes.
